WHAT MENU OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER?

Our menus are ingredient-led, so we choose the day’s dishes based on what produce is at their peak. Consequently, the menu is updated regularly so it may not offer the dishes shown on our sample menu pages.

  • Lunch - an a la carte menu with three courses at £54.

  • Dinner - a five-course tasting menu at £110.

  • Please note that a 12.5% discretionary service charge is added to all invoices which is divided between the restaurant team.

Normally for parties of 7 or more at lunchtime, we ask for your menu choices beforehand. For larger parties we may also ask for a deposit at time of booking.

DO YOU CATER FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS AND ALLERGIES?

There are daily pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free menus at lunch and dinner. We can usually cater for most food allergies too. However, we require details of any dietary requirements or allergies in advance or we may not be able to accommodate them on the day. We do not offer a vegan menu.

DO YOU CATER FOR LARGE PARTIES?

You are able to book the entire restaurant for an event for up to 34 guests. Or for smaller groups of 9-14, we can arrange for you to have consecutive table in the Hayloft. Please call 01885 410 333 to discuss your requirements and the reservations team will be happy to help. For groups we ask for a deposit to be paid at the time of booking.

DO YOU OFFER ACCOMMODATION?

We have two lovely rooms in the courtyard garden of the restaurant which are available to book on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for Wednesday-Saturday nights. Please see the ‘Stay’ page of this website for reservations, availability and pricing.

WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING TIMES?

We are open from Wednesday evening to Sunday afternoon. We accept bookings at the following times:

  • Wednesday: Dinner from 6.30pm

  • Thursday - Saturday: Lunch is served from midday-2.00pm and dinner from 6.30pm

  • Sunday: Lunch is served from midday - 2.00pm

HOW DO I BOOK A TABLE?

Either call us direct on 01885 410 333, send an email to bookings@pensons.co.uk, or use the bookings section of this website to use the online booking service. Please note that the latter does not accept bookings for parties of more than 6, so please contact us to reserve a table for larger groups. Also, due to the online booking algorithm, it may say that we have no availability when this is not the case. So, it is always worth ringing us to double-check, or we can add your name to a waiting list in case we get a cancellation.

DO YOU OFFER GIFT VOUCHERS?

Yes, you can purchase gift vouchers on the gift voucher page of the website.

HOW DO I REDEEM A GIFT VOUCHER?

Gift vouchers are valid for a year from the date of purchase which is shown on the back of your gift card. Please let us know the value and reference code of your gift voucher when you book your table.

Covid-19 Gift Voucher Policy (February 2022): All gift vouchers that were purchased before 16th May 2021 have been extended by 8½ months, to cover the period that we were closed due to Covid. It is with regret that we cannot offer any further extensions to Gift Voucher purchases which are now expired.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

We have no dress code, so please dress as you wish.

DO I NEED TO BOOK A TAXI?

We are in a rural location, so we very strongly advise booking a taxi in advance as one might not be available at short notice. We recommend the following taxi companies, depending on which direction you are coming from.

HOW LONG DOES OUR MEAL LAST?

The three course lunch takes about two hours and the five course dinner takes about three hours, but we don’t ‘turn’ tables - it is yours for the duration of service. If you are booking a taxi, please let us know what time it is coming to collect you so that we are aware of your timings.

IS PENSONS FULLY ACCESSIBLE FOR DISABLED GUESTS?

Yes, we have disabled parking spaces by the main restaurant door and most of the restaurant is all on one level (with the exception of the Hayloft dining room) with hard floors throughout. ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?

Whilst we love children, we do not offer a children’s menu and the nature and style of the food offered at Pensons means it may not be to all children’s tastes. However, children who are used to dining with their parents and are familiar with this type of restaurant etiquette are welcome. We have a highchair and baby-changing facilities available.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We require a credit/debit card number to secure all restaurant bookings. Cards will not be charged except in the event of a cancellation or party reduction within 48 hours of the reservation time, or a 'no show’. In these instances, cards will be charged at £54 per person for lunchtime bookings and £110 for dinner reservations, although we will always try to find someone else to take your table to avoid implementing the cancellation charge.
